George Hage, Ed.D., Ph.D., LCMHCS is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Clinical Mental Health Supervisor in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. With decades of experience in counseling, supervision, education, and ministry, Dr. Hage brings a uniquely integrative and compassionate approach to mental health care.
Professional Counseling & Clinical Supervision Experience
In addition to providing clinical mental health counseling, Dr. Hage is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Supervisor (LCMHCS) and has offered clinical supervision for over 14 years. He works with Associate Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHCA) in North Carolina who have completed their master’s degree in counseling and are pursuing full independent licensure.
Dr. Hage has also supervised licensed school counselors seeking to obtain their LCMHC license for independent practice in community settings beyond the school environment.
He currently holds:

Academic Background & Spiritual Foundations
Dr. Hage holds two doctorate degrees that inform his holistic counseling approach:
- Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Teaching, with emphasis on cultural anthropology and philosophies of teaching and learning
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Eastern Orthodox Studies, with emphasis on Eastern Orthodox theology
In addition to his academic training, Dr. Hage has served in Protestant ministry for 36 years and as an Eastern Orthodox priest for 12 years. Though now retired from active parish leadership, he continues to maintain his priesthood and integrate spiritual wisdom into his professional work when appropriate.
Teaching, Ministry & Lifelong Service
Dr. Hage is also licensed to teach in North Carolina, with credentials in Music and Social Studies for grades 9–12. His teaching experience includes middle school, high school, and community college instruction.
He views his work in counseling, education, and ministry as interconnected forms of service. Each role reflects a shared purpose: to listen deeply, respond empathically, and guide individuals toward healing, wisdom, meaning, and purpose in their lives.
